My name is Scott L. Trahan. I have been a teacher for over 10 years in Massachusetts public schools, the last eight in Agawam, a small town in Western Massachusetts. Although I have taught all mathematical subjects from Basic Math through Calculus, I currently teach Geometry, Algebra II Honors, as well as AP Calculus AB & BC. In addition, I am currently president of MATHWEST, the Association of Teachers of Mathematics in Western Massachusetts.
Through my involvement with MATHWEST, I have organized regional conferences for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the Association of Teachers of Mathematics in New England, as well as Texas Instruments. With all of these experiences, I have learned more about the teaching and learning of mathematics, and try to bring that to my classroom, as well as professional training programs I have developed.
Recently, I have been involved with "Teachers Teaching with Technology," the professional development arm of the educational division of Texas Instruments. I am a T3 Regional Instructor, and have taught workshops to hundreds of mathematics teachers across New England . An offspring of this development has been the creation of Math Tech Consulting, L.L.C., a company that provides professional development workshops and courses in mathematics to school systems needing assistance.
